The Leon County Democratic Executive Committee is the official representative body of registered Democrats in Leon County. As the decision-making body, it sets the party’s overall direction and supports the candidacy of Democrats in local, state, and national elections. In 2023, the committee aims to strengthen the local party, enhance community relationships, further public understanding of Democratic values, and prepare for the 2024 elections.

Becoming a member of the LCDEC requires attending monthly Zoom meetings at 7:00 p.m. on the 4th Monday of each month. Members are precinct committee men and women who help register voters and get out the vote in their precincts. During the meetings, decisions are made on running the county party and engaging speakers on various topics. Members can also get involved in volunteering to register new voters, calling Democrats and Independents with voter information, sharing their message through letters to the editor, issue forums, and commission and legislative meetings, serving as liaisons to kindred political clubs and organizations, and fundraising. There is no membership fee.
